Wendy, the mother of a Discovery Ranch graduate, recently sent us this email. With her permission, we’re sharing it with you. To protect their family’s privacy, her student’s name has been changed:

Today is Jeff’s 18th birthday. We might not be celebrating this very special day if it were not for all the amazing people at Discovery Ranch. I am absolutely convinced that without DR, Jeff may not have seen today or if he had, we would not be sharing it with him because we would no longer be in a relationship.

Instead, he is a senior in high school, co-captain of the soccer team, and looking at colleges during his fall break. Is it perfect? No. There are still struggles. However, the bumps are smaller, the recovery time faster, and we stay in relationship.

As we returned home from looking at colleges Jeff was wearing his DR hoodie (his past), a pair of sweatpants from his current school, (his present) and a T-shirt he received from one of the colleges we visited (his future). What a symbolic picture that was.

Thank you, each and every one of you, for the work you do every day, every night, 365 days a year. You saved a young man, you have saved a family. We will be forever grateful to you for giving us today.
