Is a Youth Residential Treatment Facility Right for your Teen?

Students at Discovery Ranch generally come to us after having had some previous youth residential treatment. Many are enrolled after attending a wilderness treatment center. However, regardless of the treatment setting, self-improvement, the development of independent living skills and the transition to a productive adult and member of society is the goal.

Discovery Ranch is right for your teen if:

• Male or Female 13-17 years old
• He/she would benefit from experiential therapy versus traditional youth residential treatment.
• Has been resistive to self-improvement or oppositional in other therapeutic settings.
• Suffers from emotional issues such as:
  • Depression, bipolar disorder
  • Non-compliant behaviors
  • Adoption or abandonment issues.
  • ADD or ADHD
  • Anxiety Issues
  • Family Relationship Issues
  • Social Problems
  • Drug and Alcohol
  • Low-self esteem
  • Trauma
  • Low frustration tolerance

We do not treat:

• Psychotic/schizophrenic behaviors
• Serious medical issues
• Serious assaultive behaviors
• Conduct Disorder
• Serious gang involvement
• Serious mental impairment (IQ lower than 85)
• Sexual perpetration
